TiMe to TaKe uP a CoLLecTioN

No... not cash $... but 2 1/2 inch squares of fabric.
If you are in a position to donate ANY orphan squares of cotton fabric in ANY colour...
I'll be collecting donations, sorting them & then organising a SeWinG Bee.
We'll start off with one on a Tuesday in early 2022... (date to be advised)
And then have another one on a Saturday as well.
Any member can join in... the sewing... pressing... trimming or layout...
OR you can simply enjoy your normal sewing day... NO pressure to participate.
The quilt/s sewn will be given to our committee to donate to our charities.

PLEASE bring in any 2 1/2 inch pre-cut... OR we can cut pieces of scrap fabric...
either on a Tuesday or Saturday for collection.

Perhaps over the Christmas break you can go through your scrap bin for more.
The more we receive... the more quilts we can make.
THANKS for your help with this endeavour...

Xmas is Coming

we will be having a gift table full of Xmas items on sale for you to purchase.
Why not grab a small gift for a friend OR perhaps something for yourself or your home.
Please not that only CASH will be accepted... unfortunately NO eftpos is available.
Any sales will help boost our fund raising effort which has depleted over the past 2 years due to Covid closures & restrictions. Please help us grow our dwindling account.

Sharon is only too happy to bring a specific item along for you to collect.
Simply phone Sharon at the shop to arrange a delivery.

WheeL Chair Quilt...

 A Quick PRoJecT:

These instructions are from the Linus Project for a Wheel Chair quilt.
A few have been donated & the size was found to work well. These
measurements are for the small size quilt at 36" x 36" with 2 cut off corners.
Other suggested sizes are
a medium size @ 36" x 40"
OR  a large size @ 40" x 40"

The one below was made using donated 41/2 inch squares & a little stash.
I added the funky cat to make it a HaPPy quilt to have on a knee.
Any child would love one in FuN fabrics but adults need quilts too.
The Cerebral Palsy Alliance welcome any chair quilts... AND...
I'm only too happy to deliver them on Novocastrian Quilters behalf..

You can download the FREE PDF Linus wheelchair pattern HeRe...

Covid Blues

If you are feeling a little LESS socially connected by these restrictions,
why not get in touch with a few "stitching" friends & meet in a park.
At this stage you are allowed FIVE.

Just remember to be fully vaccinated,
wear a mask while NOT eating or drinking...
keep your personal distance &
stay in your own LGA.

I know of two groups doing this & they think it's absolutely wonderful.

Until we can ALL get together again... a picnic is the perfect replacement.
Give it a try... I'm sure you'll EnJoY it...

A Simple fix...

I call them Bobbin Bands...
A little tip for keeping bobbin threads from unravelling.
I know there are lots of "doodads" on the market BuT this tip is almost FREE.
Use those TiNy kids stretchy hair bands available from discount stores for $2.50.
You can even colour coordinate threads & bands too.

I just thought you may be interested to try this...

Just Added

A new TAB has been added to this blog... called Tips Tools & Tutorials.

I was recently asked where I got my quilt row markers from & my answer was
"I made them".
Now you can too... simply go the the TAB above... then CLiCK on the photo...
Or simply click HeRe.

A charity quilt was recently made using the CHAIN LINK block.

Quite a few members asked me for the instruction on how to make this block...
so I've added it to the Tips, Tools & Tutorials page as well.

Bette recently made a Community Quilt using this block...
And Kathy made one in bright colours...
