Covid Blues

If you are feeling a little LESS socially connected by these restrictions,
why not get in touch with a few "stitching" friends & meet in a park.
At this stage you are allowed FIVE.

Just remember to be fully vaccinated,
wear a mask while NOT eating or drinking...
keep your personal distance &
stay in your own LGA.

I know of two groups doing this & they think it's absolutely wonderful.

Until we can ALL get together again... a picnic is the perfect replacement.
Give it a try... I'm sure you'll EnJoY it...

A Simple fix...

I call them Bobbin Bands...
A little tip for keeping bobbin threads from unravelling.
I know there are lots of "doodads" on the market BuT this tip is almost FREE.
Use those TiNy kids stretchy hair bands available from discount stores for $2.50.
You can even colour coordinate threads & bands too.

I just thought you may be interested to try this...

A charity quilt was recently made using the CHAIN LINK block.

Quite a few members asked me for the instruction on how to make this block...
so I've added it to the Tips, Tools & Tutorials page as well.

Bette recently made a Community Quilt using this block...
And Kathy made one in bright colours...

Tuesday Group - Union Block Challenge 2017

Clare Lewis is running a very successful block challenge with the Tuesday group.

I have designed a quilt for everyone using the Union block.  I hope you join in and have some fun.

Over the course of the next eight months I will hand out directions to make 6 blocks.  On the ninth month I will give out the quilt assembly instructions.  The finished quilt will have the Union block made in a variety of finished sizes of 4.5 inches to 12 inches.  I suggest you use fabrics from your stash. I have not included borders in the final measurement, you can make your own design when you get to that point, although if you need assistance I am available to help.

Bring your finished blocks along to show everyone and to help keep on track.

The basics:

  • Directions to be handed out at the first meeting of each month.
  • 8 months.
  • 6 blocks per month of a specified size.
  • Bring completed blocks to the first meeting of each month.
  • On the 9th month quilt assembly instructions.
  • Choose your own colours.
  • 3.5 meters background fabric, (if you choose to use the same throughout) this is prior to borders.
  • Finished quilt prior to borders is 49.5 inch x 63 inch.

Most importantly Enjoy!
