Saturday Meeting - 16 January 2016

It seems like most people have recovered from Christmas!! It was a quiet Saturday meeting, but still well attended.

Another great meeting, with a slightly bigger turn out. I think most people have now recovered from the Christmas/New Year period!!

Community Quilts

Some more great quilts to be given to people who need a bit of a pick up. The Windmill blocks were pre-cut and distributed to members who then sewed them up and returned them for construction into quilts. They all turned out great, hard to pick a favourite!!

Tiffany made up her nine patch swap blocks into this gorgeous quilt, with an equality stunning backing.

A wonderful top! Many different hexagon blocks in this one.

Simple but very effective with a lovely collection of Aboriginal design fabrics.

A table runner from last months technique class. Always great to have a finish.

Saturday - 17 May 2014 Meeting

Well, it was a big meeting this month. We didn't have a meeting in April due to the Easter/ANZAC Day combination. We had a very good turnout this month, so I thought I'd give a shot of the whole group.

Show and Tell

This lovely nine patch top is from Lorna. It is made up using 3" nine patches from the swap the Guild held in 2013. Works so well with the chrome yellow star blocks.

Community Quilts

 This one is a bit hard to see in the photo, but it is actually made up of hexagons!!

We will probably offer this as raffle quilt. So much lovely applique and 3D work.

Work Around The Room

And this final one was a banner made and given to a govt department to help brighten their offices. It has now been returned. It might be displayed at our 30th Anniversary Exhibition.

Saturday - 18 January 2014 Meeting

Our first Saturday meeting for 2014 was a great success. Despite the very warm weather, we had a great turnout. Planning is well underway for our 30th Anniversary Exhibition this year. It looks like being the best yet!! We presented two cheques to our nominated charities. The money for these donations comes from the sale of tickets for our raffle quilt at the Exhibition.

The two groups to receive a donation were John Hunter Children's Hospital and Jenny's Place. We had some great feedback from Jenny's Place on how much the quilts we donate there mean to the women and children whom the centre assists. They are well loved and much appreciated. We will be nominating the recipients for this years donation at the next Saturday meeting.

Above is the wonderful quilt top which will be the raffle quilt for 2014. It is going to look magnificent once it is complete.

As always members are working on fantastic projects. English Paper Piecing is still popular. So in a break from hexagons, here are some other EPP blocks inspired by Rachel Porter.

A wonderfully bright kids quilt for one luck recipient.

A lovely, elegant quilt inspired by Paris. I love the colours and the scalloped border is great.

This quilt was a UFO which was donated by a member. A great way to get it off the UFO list and into a good home!! It now goes to Community Quilts for distribution.

Saturday - 14 Dec 2013 Meeting and Christmas Lunch

The 14th was our last Saturday meeting for 2013. Numbers were down slightly, as is to be expected at this time of year but we still had a great turnout for the meeting, which included our Christmas lunch. 

Here's De manning the table with our Fat Quarter swap packages. Lots of great fabrics found new homes!! Just in time for the Christmas sewing period.

It was the final meeting for the Block of the Quarter blocks. Three winners taking home some Christmas themed blocks.

One of our members was asked to sew on some Bravery Buttons onto this lovely quilt. 

As always, lots of donations for the Community Quilts. Both completed quilts and tops.
